Who are the Karmapas?

Welcome to KTTG, in Crestone Colorado.

Karma Thegsum Tashi Gomang was founded by His Holiness the XVI Gyalwa karmapa, head of the Kagyu order of Tibetan Buddhism. Located in the Sangre de Cristo mountains of southern Colorado, KTTG is dedicated to fulfill His Holiness's vision that this beautiful and remote location be a place where the Tibetan culture could survive. He envisioned a monastery, Tibetan Medical Center and a village of lay people. We are dedicated to making this vision a reality.

KTTG is an Affiliate Center of Karma Triyana Dharmachakra, the North American Seat of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje.

A message from the Director

The Tashi Gomang Stupa and Retreat Cabins are now 14 years old and in need of repairs. Severe cracks have developed in the Stupa and water has damaged the paint. We will be doing extensive repairs this summer on the Stupa for the first time since its construction.  For this immediate need alone we need your help in raising $30,000.  We must repair the stupa no later than the end of August as shortly afterwards freezing overnight temperatures are harmful to repair materials drying and setting.  To date we do not have one half of the needed sum.

If you have visited the Stupa you will understand how important preservation of this magnificent jewel is.  If you have not yet visited, we invite you to come and experience the palpable blessings this site offers to all.  We are finding that we need to refurbish the wear our extreme winters have on the Stupa on a yearly basis.   Please contribute to the repairs and continual upkeep of this precious world monument for the benefit of all beings.

We are asking for your help to preserve what we have, and help us move forward with our mission. Please visit the donations page to make a secure online gift.
