Dear Friend of the Dharma,
Nearly 30 years ago, when His Holiness the Sixteenth Gyalwa Karmapa
visited Crestone, Colorado, he had a vision that this would be an
auspicious location where the Tibetan way of life could be preserved.
In response to His Holiness' vision, in 1988, the Baca Tibetan Buddhist
community took on the task of bringing his vision to fruition.
At that time His Eminence Jamgon Kongtrul Richpoche, a principle
disciple of the Karmapa, visited Crestone and instructed the group to
build the 41 foot Tashi Gomang Stupa. The Stupa building project took
seven years of hard work and was consecrated in August, 1996.
If you've ever had the chance to visit this or another Stupa, you know
it is much more than a mere building. The Tashi Gomang Stupa embodies
the enlightened activity of the Buddha and contains many precious
relics from Shakyamuni Buddha, all sixteen Karmapa's, Milarepa,
Padmasambhava, Marpa, Tilopa, Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, Dilgo Chyentse
Rinchope and others.
Please help us preserve the Tashi Gomang Stupa. After 10 years, cracks
have developed and water has damaged the paint. Repairs made now will
go a long way toward preserving the Stupa for the benefit of all
beings.
Stupa repair is the first step in fulfilling the 16th Karmapa's vision.
As we anticipate a visit from the 17th Karmapa, additional
improvements, such as road maintenance, will be necessary.
Join us in dedicating these efforts to the benefit of all sentient beings.
Sincerely,
Bo Wiberg
Director of KTTG

Ways you can help KTTG.
STUPA FUND
Maintaining the Stupa is currently our first priority. Your donation
here will provide funds for the upkeep of the Karma Tashi Gomang Stupa
and the Stupa access road.
RETREAT CABIN FUNDThis fund will insure that the current
three retreat cabins at KTTG will be properly maintained. It can also
provide the funds for building additional cabins. We would like to
build as many as seven additional cabins for short and long term
retreatants. They will be designed with energy conservation and
longevity in mind. Revenue from the cabins will help to support KTTG.
TIBETAN VILLAGE PROJECT
This is ultimately the goal of KTTG. The land we administer was given
to His Holiness the sixteenth Karmapa to fulfill his vision for
Crestone. He foresaw that this area was a place where the Tibetan
culture could survive. He envisioned a Monastery, retreat center,
Tibetan medical center, and a village where several hundred lay people
could reside. This is a large but very important project. Your
investment in this project could be used as “seed money” to help get it
up and running. We would like to see a small, full time, team dedicated
exclusively to the success of His Holiness's vision. We would like to
start fund raising, planning and implementing the vision as soon as
possible!
Please feel free to
contact us with any questions you might have about these projects.
You can also make a general donation to KTTG to help support our day to day operations.
